Everywhere We’ve Been
A living map of the places that shaped this trip.
Read why we travel
We believe travel isn’t about escaping life. It’s about understanding the world, the people in it, and ultimately ourselves.
The media often teaches us to fear what is unfamiliar. Travel taught us something different: countries are never just their stereotypes, people are rarely what we expect, and the world isn’t nearly as foreign as we think.
The more we travel, the more we realize how deeply history, culture, and everyday life are connected, and how much there still is to learn.
We’re fortunate to be the first in our family to experience the world this way, and we don’t take that privilege for granted. That’s why we’re sharing not just where we go, but what we learn along the way.
Because the greatest thing travel can give you isn’t another stamp in your passport.
It’s perspective.

The Philosophy Behind How We Travel
Travel has taught us that countries are never just their stereotypes. They are not simply “safe” or “unsafe,” “rich” or “poor,” “friendly” or “dangerous.” The media is often fueled by fear, thats something I hear a lot. Real experience is fueled by presence, curiosity, and human connection. The more we travel, the more we realize that…

How Travel Changed My Perspective on Privilege and Opportunity
“None of us choose where we begin, yet that choice shapes almost everything that follows.” – Jaylon I never truly understood the depth of these words until I began traveling the world. Growing up, my idea of travel was simply vacations, beaches, resorts, and experiences where everything was catered to you, just like they portray…

Is It Really That Dangerous?
“Isn’t it dangerous there?” I think this might be one of the questions we have heard the most since we started talking about travelling the world. Before we left, people would ask us about certain countries and then immediately follow it up with something about how dangerous they were supposed to be. Sometimes it was…

We Had No Plan: How We Prepared to Travel the World
If you have read my previous posts, you already know that deciding to quit my job and travel the world was something I had been thinking about for a long time. The decision itself was a big one, but once we actually decided to do it, I realized that there was another problem: we had…

Everyone Told Me the Same Thing
There is a question I started asking people as I was able to sit at the “adult table” in conversations: “What do you wish you had done more of in your life? Is there anything you regret not doing?” I don’t really remember when I started asking it. Maybe it was because I was becoming…

Writing This From Puerto Rico
I’m writing this from Puerto Rico, and I already know that one day I will probably read these words again and remember exactly what this part of our journey felt like. Maybe I’ll be sitting somewhere with Jay, maybe we’ll have a family of our own, and we’ll look back at the time when we…

Is Medellín Really That Dangerous?
“Isn’t Medellín dangerous?” That was one of the questions we heard before we went. Not once, but again and again. People would hear that we were going to Medellín and immediately ask whether we were sure about it. We had heard enough stories ourselves to know why they were asking. Crime, drugs, the history of…

Our First Impressions of Medellín
We booked our flights to Medellín pretty spontaneously. By the time we were actually on our way, I think both of us were a little nervous. Medellín is one of those places where you hear a lot of different things before you go. We had heard the usual stories about safety, crime and everything else…

Why I Finally Quit My Job to Travel the World
I’ve always dreamed of seeing the world and have always been very curious. As a child, I was lucky enough to travel with my parents every year and I really mean every single year at least one vacation. Mostly to Portugal, where we originally are from. I didn’t always appreciate it and would even ask,…

The Side of Medellín Tourists Don’t Always Talk About
There is a version of Medellín that is very easy to fall in love with. The mountains, the views, the warm weather, the Metro, the dancing, the cafés, the fruit and, most of all, the people. We met so many lovely and welcoming people during our time there, and there was always something happening somewhere…

The Day We Got Stuck on a Mountain in Medellín
Everybody who Googles Medellín knows the beautiful view at night full of lights that looks like an ocean of stars. So one afternoon, we decided to go up to Cerro El Picacho. We had done some research on the best views of Medellín and this one seemed to be a hidden gem. Nothing too complicated.…

The People We Met in Medellín
One of my favorite things about travelling is how often the best stories start with something completely random. You don’t really plan them and you don’t know they are going to happen. Sometimes you don’t even realize in the moment that something important just happened. That is exactly what happened to us in Medellín. We…

Medellín Travel Guide: What You Should Know Before You Go
Medellín was one of those places we arrived in with no expectations, a lot of questions and, if I’m honest, a little bit of nervousness. We had heard so many different things about the city before going that we didn’t really know what to expect and it was our first stop on the journey. After…

How Four Days in Punta Cana Turned Into Forever
I’ve always believed that some moments quietly rearrange your whole life before you even realize what’s happening. This is one of those stories, and it still feels a little unreal to write down, even now. It started on November 27, 2024. My best friend and I flew to Punta Cana for a girls’ trip. No…
